The big problem with forming a "new" conference is that you do not have an automatic bid to the NCAAs. That would mean a play in game and that is a big step backwards. At this point in time there are no conferences looking for additional members, especially non-football schools, so LB is limited. Besides, the BCS evolution has not been completed so there are still many unknowns. The best thing LB can do is make the athletic department the best it can be and dominate the BW; and if things change, get an invite to a football conference. LB needs to improve individually to become attractive enough to be one of the non-football schools worthy of an invite. In its current state, the school would probably be passed up so there is plenty of work to be done.
