So many things to comment on.
First and foremost, it was Maxson and Shumard who made the BW what it is today, a bus league. They allowed for the BW to slip and ran off schools that helped the BW.
UOP didn't apply to WCC. Only Seattle and Denver did.
NO WCC school would leave their conference. Why should they?
To say Seattle will soon become a good hoops program, clearly is off base. They are making the move to D-1 and that takes time tod develop. Yes, Seattle was great in the 50's but things have changed so much in college basketball it's a different game.
The BW schools mentioned will not want to increase their travel expenses for this conference. The five LA area schools can take a bus to the games. So travel expenses for four games maybe $1600. Add the local non conference games vs LMU and Pep. and you have 20% of your travel schedule costing less than $3000. Where can you find that anywhere else? I figure to charter a bus at about $400. maybe $500.
For MVB, yes the BW should talk to schools that play MVB and form the BW MVB conference. Ideally schools like UCR and Fullerton would add MVB but lack of leadership prevents that from happening.
